What a fantastic afternoon we had at Longton Park today as we paraded around the park for St Georges Day. It was excellent to see over 150 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, and Leaders parading behind the District and Group flags.
The sun and a funfair meant that the park was very busy, and the 1-mile route took in the whole of the park. As we passed other park users, out for their afternoon walks, the parade brought smiles to their faces.
This was our first gathering as a District since the pandemic and we showed that Scouting is alive and well in the south of the city.
We renewed our promises and then Reverend Geoff Eze addressed the parade, reminding us that the promises that we make and being members of the Scout Movement will allow is to overcome the dragons that we have faced, such as Covid, and the dragons that are yet to come.
A huge thank you to all the young people, leaders and parents that attended the parade and a special thank you to Reverend Eze for all his enthusiasm and support.
