Sunday 28th April – St Georges Day Parade & Service
1:30pm meet @ 22nd Stoke HQ to parade to Stoke Minster. 
More details will be out soon.  Lets show everyone how proud we are to Scout!

5-7 July – Beavers County Under the Sea camp
All for the cost of £10 per person
Booking confirmation by 31st March to County and District

21 September – Beavers Gullivers Kingdom trip – this sounds like an amazing day for Beavers!  Though I’m sure some of the adults might enjoy it as well……

20-22 September – Cubs District Camp – we have confirmed the date and in the process of booking a venue.  We just need your ideas and enthusiasm to make it happen and of course lots and lots of smiling Cubs!:

14-16 June – Scouts & Explorers Splash Weekend – Our Sea Scouts would like to host lots of Scouts and Explorers wanting to get wet (or not if they prefer!) at Rudyard Lake!  Opportunities to camp could be taken at Barnswood to make a whole weekend of it.  Kayaking/Canoeing/Pulling/Sailing – and I’m sure much more will be on offer.  David Smith is heading this up and has booked some instructors, and I have booked the weather. Awesome.

12-14 July – Scouts & Explorers District Camp – As above – the more Scouts and Explorers we have attending the better!  We’ll discuss a theme and how the weekend might work at a District Planning meeting (see below).  This is a great opportunity to meet other Scouts and for the Scouts to see Explorers and what types of things they might get up to as they move on.

These events will all be amazing, with so many great opportunities for young people across the District – please put these dates in your diary’s and talk to your Beavers/Cubs/Scouts/Explorers.  If they have ideas of things we can do on the events bring them along to discuss.

Next District Meeting – Tuesday 2nd April – 7:30pm @ Dresden HQ. 
Please come along to share your ideas, and help us shape these events. 

Hillwalking Training April 2019

The Mountain Team have taken on board the demand for the Hillwalking courses and have added an additional date to this years calendar. They will be offering a course to cover training only (NO ASSESMENTS). The details are below. 
Places are limited and will be allocated on a 1st come basis 

Course Dates: April 6th and 7th 2019.

Venue: Edale Car Park. SK124853 on the Saturday and Sunday mornings. (subject to change, see below).

Times: 9.45 am to 5.00 pm

 Cost: £40.00 Places: Maximum of 20.

Swimming Gala

District Swimming Gala, which is open to Cubs, Scouts and Explorers – details below:
Saturday 24th November at Jubilee2 in Newcastle.
Arrival 6pm and collection at 9pm, parents are welcome to stay in the spectators area throughout.
We will be including traditional gala races, intersection races and fun races.
All participants must be able to swim 25m, weak swimmers are welcome.
There is FREE parking available onsite after 6pm.

Abseiling Saturday 6th October

Abseiling Event – Millers Dale Bridge – Saturday 6th October

The County Mountain Team will be running an abseiling event at Millers Dale Bridge on Saturday 6th October. This is a fantastic venue to abseil from an 80ft bridge!!
The bridge is located in the Peak District on the Monsal Trail, just outside Buxton in Derbyshire. SK17 8SN
Imagine an old railway bridge with pillars and arches, spanning a narrow gorge, and one of the arches is over a swift-moving river. Welcome to Millers Dale Bridge!

Millers Dale Bridge provides the most spectacular Peak District abseil site. Here you can have your Derbyshire abseiling adrenaline rush, jumping off a man-made structure.

At Millers Dale Bridge the challenge is to abseil over the arch, which is above the River Wye. This gives you an 80 foot abseil of which 70 feet is free hanging!

Booking are now being taken and hourly slots are available between 10.00am – 1.00pm. (10.00am – 11.00am, 11.00am – 12.00pm, 12.00pm – 1.00pm)
Each slot can accommodate 15 people.
The cost is £3.00 per person.
The event is open to those 10 years and over.
The County Mountain Team will be the permit holders for the event.

Why not use the event as an opportunity to raise funds for your group or for an event and do a sponsored abseil.
